Tia & Tusi - A Love Story

10/10/2020 5:47:38 PM

Paul & Jo sent the sweetest dog/cat video today. It got me reminiscing about this pair Matthew & I had in Temecula 12 years ago - Tia and Tusi (short for Watusi).

Both were rescues. We got Tia when she was 1 & she'd lived with our 3 cats until they each eventually went bye-bye from old age. One, Cricket, was so mean! Poor Tia.

Along came Tusi. Tia  - the  50 lb Aussie/Border Collie - was terrified of this tiny 3 lb ball of fur!

It took about a week, and Tusi won her over with her all-fun & games-all-the-time attitude. They'd play for hours. Tia would whip her butt around and sit on little Tusi - that cat didn't care.

Tusi & Matthew - she loved to lick & was always gentle with him. Me? Not as much!

Tia and Matthew - she was one of those dogs -  just the BEST ever

Catnip kisses

Good old-fashioned grocery bag - good for hours of fun

Wah! Watusi!

Go Tia Go!

Manatee in the Sky

10/8/2020 10:58:42 PM

Do you have dreams like this? I know we all have bizarre dreams... though some don't remember them.  But I'm curious - is this common for a lot of us?

A few nights ago, I dreamt I was at a big rambling house or hotel... a bunch of us were outside in the evening... I looked up in the sky and could see two creatures way  way up. One was black and white, like an orca! I thought I must be imagining things... but they were definitely large animals... flying around together, almost dancing.
Way up high.

I called up to them - to get their attention, just in case it worked. "Woot woot!" I yelled up... "YOO Hooooo!"

It worked! Suddenly, one of them started blasting down towards me! So fast. But it wasn't the orca - it was a manatee! She flew down to me!  (How I knew it was a girl I do not know.) I said to someone "See? Just pay attention to them; call out and they just might respond!"

She came zooming down, flew about all curious, sweet and friendly-like...

Dammit. I knew I shouldn't have waited 2 days before writing it. Now I don't remember all of it.

But it was so magical and fun. I mean, seriously. A flying manatee? Coming down from the heavens to visit little 'ol me??? It doesn't get much better than that.

But that's all I got. Can't remember what happened after. I think she just took off again. What a nice visit though! Who was that masked manatee?

Chicken Thoughts

10/8/2020 9:48:19 PM

I've been calorie counting on an app... (gained 9 lbs in the first few months of Covid isolation!)

So I was searching the app for chicken thighs (sorry Birgit, my very-vegan friend)... but my phone wrote "chicken thoughts" which of course sent me down a rabbit hole!

My thoughts ran like this:

I would not eat chicken thoughts. They wouldn't even be filling. Not to insult chickens - I know they have thoughts.

It's just that thoughts are so airy. Fluff really (I mean, just look at these!)

Even heavy thoughts can be whisked away in an instant...

One funny meme from JoBeans, or phone call with Matthew or the grand-kids...

One snoofle of Miss Kitty Monkey Bottom's tummy (you know, when you stuff your face in their belly and, well, snoofle!)

Half a quaalude... just kidding. That was decades ago. Sigh. (There are some things I miss from the good old days.)

May all your chicken thoughts be light and airy! (Easier said than done right now.)
